iKhethelo Children's Village

On the 5th September Freitan and Gerber Paper presented a cheque of R10,000 to the iKhethelo Children’s Village.

This came about as a result of Freitan very generously donating a cheque of R10,000 for a hole in one at the Gerber Paper golf day earlier this month.  Due to none of the golfers being successful, Freitan decided that Gerber Paper could nominate a charity of their choice to receive this amount.  Gerber Paper’s immediate choice was the iKhethelo Children’s Village.

iKhethelo Children’s Village is based in the Valley of the Thousand Hills and is a safe haven for vulnerable children.  This home was established over 20 years ago and cares for between 45 and 47 children.  Children who have lost their parents, been mentally or physically abused, have HIV and range in age from a few months to 18 years.

In January 2019, Gerber Paper upgraded the crèche at iKhethelo by building a covered play area.  Once complete all the Gerber Paper staff assisted in painting the wall, making it a fun and happy area for the little children to play in.
